HID stands for High Intensity Discharge. It refers to lighting technology that relies on an electrical charge to ignite xenon gas contained in a sealed bulb. The technology of HID automotive lamps is similar to that of common vapor-filled street lamps. HID lighting doesn't have a filament but instead creates light by igniting an arc between two electrodes via control system (ballast), 12 volts d.c. increase to 23,000 volts d.c. instantly, the xenon molecules convert to ion. HID lights get their name from the intense white light produced by the electrical discharge. HID lamps are also called xenon lamps, referring to a gas inside the lamps. HID general lighting has been used for years in sports arenas and stadiums around the country.

  BACK Power manufactures all types of HID Xenon bulbs using the highest quality of "UV Stop Quartz Tubes." Quartz is composed of Silica Si02, which is the fourth hardest mineral in existance. It is this ideal material that completely filters all harmful ultraviolet rays while allowing maximum visible light output at the same time. This guarantees the patented design of BACK HID Lights is completely "ozone free."

The HID Bulbs UV Cut Quartz is then filled with HID Xenon gas, and small amounts of other hyper injected noble gases, which is placed between two high-voltage electrodes. When the electrodes are activated, a "natural" bright light is emitted.

Our "UV Stop Quartz Glass" provides more light on the road as well as the highest level of resistance to vibrations, extremes of temperature, and risks of water caused explosion. BACK "UV Stop Quartz Tube" filters out the ultraviolet rays that are potentially damaging to modern plastic head lighting units.

The UV-Stop Quartz Glass offers far better protection against ultraviolet rays than standard quartz glass and consequently prevents plastic head lighting units from yellowing. So not only do you get to enjoy the benefits of the increased visible light output that our UV-Stop Quarts allows through, but you also get the added benefit of longer lasting "Clear" headlight lenses as a side effect.

  The human eye responds well to HID lights. The iris expands when light is bright and contracts when light is dim, opening and closing the pupil to control the amount of light that reaches the retina. In addition to regulating brightness, this mechanism affects "depth of field" - the range within images appear clear. HID Lighting creates sharper contrast. Lights are lighter, darks are darker, and objects in your environment are sharply defined.  
   
  The wavelengths of light are measured in microscopic increments called nanometers. (A nanometer is one-billionth of a meter!) The wavelengths of natural light range from 400 nanometers (blue-violet light) to 700 nanometers (red-light). It takes this full spectrum to emit a light output containing all colors - HID Lights that the human eye perceives as "White."

HID replicates the full color spectrum of wavelengths that exist in natural daylight, with adjustments for the color shift that takes place when "natural" light is viewed at night. That's why HID lighting is so much brighter and whiter than traditional lighting.
 
   
  If you are tired of constantly changing bulbs, these HID bulbs last up to 7 times longer than an ordinary halogen bulb.
